“Playing music with others is always a privilege.
I have been playing the piano for others for as long as I can remember.”
Soloists – singers and instrumentalists
Lorraine thoroughly enjoys accompanying and knows that her support as an accompanist can make all the difference to a successful and enjoyable performance. In addition, her skills and experience have often been described as ‘sensitive’, ‘confident’ and ‘reassuring’. In addition, Lorraine has experience with children and adults performances. Above all, she is patiente and caring.
She accompanies exams with all the exam boards (ABRSM and Trinity College especially) and at all grades. In particular, she is often in demand to accompany at Westonbirt Schools (Gloucestershire) and Trinity College Swindon Centre.
In addition, every year Lorraine accompanies pupils (singers and instrumentalists) to classes at various local festivals, such as the Mid-Somerset Festival and Devizes Eisteddfod Music festival.
Examination, Festival & Recording Accompaniments
Lorraine accompanies exams with all the exam boards, and at all grades. In particular, she is often in demand to accompany ABRSM, Trinity College and LCM exams.
Accompanying for exams is charged in two parts: firstly any rehearsals, and secondly, the exam itself.
The number of rehearsals necessary will depend on a number of factors:
- Whether the student has played with the ‘live’ accompaniment to their pieces in the past
- Whether she/he needs help with and practise at the aural tests;
- How confident they are with the pieces;
- How much has been covered in their lessons.
As a rough guide, the following is recommended, but dependent on the above, more or less time may be necessary:
|Prep Test to Grade 5||1 x 30 minutes|
|Grades 6-8||2 x 45 minutes to 1 hour (or 2X 30 minutes)|
2. Exam Accompaniment
On the day, Lorraine will be here not only to accompany you, but most importantly to support you through the process. Lorraine will also help you to warm up if necessary.
“Performing with Lorraine was a fantastic experience. Her playing is sensitive and she is the most supportive accompanist, I have ever worked with.”– Benjamin Silley, cellist
